Thrifty Thursday: Window Shutter Mail Holder

First of all Happy 4th of July!!
I'm sure most of you have plans already for today...A bbq, having some quality family time, going to see the fireworks?! We're keeping it pretty chill this year. I think we'll be having a bbq at the in-laws! Don't get me wrong, i'm all for "chill" :) I think Adeline is feeling a little sick anyway, she was being a bit of a cranky bear yesterday.  Well, whatever you and your family decide to do I hope you enjoy your day! If you're looking for some last minute 4th of July TREATS, or PARTY IDEAS we've got you covered!

Besides being 4th of July, its THRIFTY THURSDAY! Today, I have an easy project for you, that cost only a couple of dollas! HOLLA. I actually purchased this window shutter a couple of months ago at a Goodwill for a couple of dollars (a pack of two). I decided to make a nifty little mail holder, you know instead of having mail scattered all over the kitchen table ;) Let's get started. Here is the window shutter before I started.

AND here it is afterwards!

What you'll need for this project:
-Window Shutter
-Clothespins of some kind ( I got a pack of these cute decorated ones at Michael's for 1.00)
-Acrylic Paint
-Letter Stencils
-Glue
-Tape or Thick Paper
Thats it.

I just love these clothespins. The color ended up working really well with my mail holder (I decided to use them after I painted the shutter). First thing I did was remove the hardware from the shutter then painted the shutter the solid blue color using acrylic paint. Next I used a white acrylic paint and some lettered stencils that I have, and traced these letters to spell out M-A-I-L. Then once that was dry I glued the clothespins on, I wanted to use this to clip on various coupons, and "to remember" notes.

Okay so I know this looks IS ghetto, but it works just fine. I needed to figure out a way to block the mail from sliding out of the slots, and this is what I came up with. You could also tape a sheet of card stock on there too. Whatever floats your boat.
Here is another final shot of the window shutter mail holder!

I hope you guys enjoyed this thrifty Thursday project! I am not quite sure where I want to hang this yet, so we'll see! I hope you all enjoy your 4th of July! I also just want to say thank you to all of our readers, we really appreciate your comments and support. Thanks for joining us on this journey :)
Happy 4th,
