Simon's 11 Month Update

A little late to posting this, and I completely missed his 10 month update. Simon has grown leaps and bounds over the last few weeks! The last update I did was when Simon was 9 months old. Since then  a lot has changed. So let's jump right in...
Stats:
Simon weighs just under 21 pounds, I don't remember how tall he is. His next doctor appointment is his 1 year check up! AHH! I can't believe that.

Naps/Sleeping:
Sleeping has been pretty good overall. He usually takes two naps a day, sometimes just one. It all depends on what errands we run that day. A morning nap between 10-11, for about an hour. Then an afternoon nap around 3/4 for about an hour. Sometimes he is just not about that nap time life and will skip his afternoon nap. We all suffer! haha. Simon goes to bed at 8:30 and will wake up just once in the night to nurse, then goes back to bed. It will either be around 3 or sometimes he doesn't wake up til about 5 then goes back to sleep til about 730/8am and wakes up for the day.
 Breastfeeding/Eating:
We've definitely got an eater on our hands. His breastfeeding schedule has definitely slowed down. He usually nurses about 6 times in a 24 period. Usually about 8am, 11am, 3pm, 6 (sometimes skips this one), and 830 for bed. He also eats breakfast, lunch, and dinner with us when we eat, and a snack here and there.
 Milestones:
Well, we have a walker! So there is that. He started taking a few steps around 10.5 months and is walking all the time now, and prefers it to crawling. That is the biggest milestone in the last two months for sure. He doesn't really say any words yet, besides mama, dada, and I think he tries to say night night. But that's about it. He also gives high fives and kisses, which is adorable!
He has a lot of new teeth! He now has 4 on top and two on bottom, which is so crazy to me! Adeline was just getting her first tooth at this age.
His first haircut also happened! It was bittersweet, but his hair looks much better now and he did a great job.
He also had his first major injury! :( Simon dove off the couch and fractured his wrist! Poor baby, I felt so bad for him. He had to wear a splint for two weeks, but that is now off and he is back to using that wrist.
Brother/Sister:
These two are quite the pair. I love that they are already so close! They love hanging out with each other and just being together. Simon a lot of the time thinks she is playing with him, when in reality she is just trying to get away from him! Hah. They've started to actually play together, today they were throwing and rolling the ball back and forth! I hope they stay the bestest of friends. Don't worry, I know hard times are ahead, but I can dream, right? :)
We love this little guy and can't believe he is already almost one! It just seems like yesterday that he was born, time is sure flying by!
Have a great evening! :)
Xo,
Kayla

Our little Valentine's Day Photoshoot

What better occasion to get the kids extra cute and dressed up for than Valentine's day? I decided to get creative and find some outfits for the kids and do a little Valentine's Day photoshoot. On Sunday, Daniel and I went to a nearby park with the kids to take pictures and go on a little family walk. It was nice to get outta the house and walk around a bit. Here are some of the pictures I took...
Suspenders,Bowtie, and Moccasins | Gray Pants (Target) | Plaid Shirt and Red Dress (Goodwill)
I had so much fun with this shoot, these two made it SO easy, and we all had a good time! I hope you all have a great Valentine's day with the ones you love!

What We Did: Thursday February 5th (Kayla)

I really enjoyed reading Kenzie’s post about a day in their life. Even though we talk all the time, and end up filling each other in about our days it is interesting to see it broken down. Also, got me to thinking what the heck do we do all day?
Here is a day in the life….of us, a stay at home mommy and her two little ones (2 year old Adeline and 8.5 month old Simon)
A random Thursday.
6:45AM – Awoken by Daniel (he has the best intentions...) I couldn't go back to sleep so I look at my phone and see what I've missed (which is nothing, big surprise) and check emails.
7:30AM – I hear Simon talking and go into change his diaper and breastfeed him.
7:45Am – Daniel brings up Addie and gives her medicine (She's been fighting a cough/runny nose all week) then she watches Magic School Bus in our bed. Daniel leaves for work.
8:00AM – I hop in the shower while the kids play in Simon's room (with the gate up) since I can see them from the bathroom. They were playing so well, I was able to finish getting ready.
8:30AM - We head to the kitchen for breakfast, Addie has half a bagel with cream cheese and a bowl of cheerios and milk. Simon snacks on some strawberry puffs.
While they’re eating I load the dish washer and run it. I walk back to our room to put a pair of socks on, 5 minutes later come back and realize I’m still not wearing socks. Instead I got distracted and made the bed, picked up our room and put a few clean clothes away. Go back to put socks on.
9:00AM – Come back and clean up from breakfast while Adeline draws on her chalkboard. We are working on a few sight words. She surprised me by standing there and pointing at the letters announcing each one.
9:15AM – My kid’s stink, literally they smell. Bath time. Get both kids naked and in the bath. Simon is all clean and is laying naked on the floor wrapped in a towel. Addie stages a protest on bath time ending, eventually all the water is drained, and I convince her we ran out of water.
10:00AM – Both kids are dressed and we’re playing in Addie’s room for a bit. I decided to start a load of laundry. The kids play with the empty laundry basket in the hall, so I finished cleaning the wall in the stairway. Adeline decided to draw a mural on it with orange crayon as she walked down the stairs (this happened the night before)
It’s 10:35AM and I've tried to sit down at my desk three times each time to be interrupted. Instead we built this tent.
Time to breastfeed Simon. I set Addie up to watch a show while I feed Simon and put him down for a nap. Flip through my phone while Simon eats, is is really only 1045AM? Okay, Simon is fed and asleep. I pick up a bit upstairs, and eat a cookie, cause I can!
I come back downstairs and sit at my desk to pay some bills and go through mail. Addie is finishing up her show.
11:15AM – I finish up at my desk and set Addie up with some stickers and coloring to work on next to me while I work on my computer.
11:40AM – Switch clothes from washer to dryer
12:00PM Lunchtime! Daniel will be home soon to eat with us. Keeping it real with chicken and cheese burritos and leftovers from last nights dinner.
12:45PM – We’re done with lunch and clean up and back downstairs to play.
1:15PM – Simon woke up so we go up and get him and I change both the kids diapers. (I’ve changed about 6 diapers so far today…) We go to the kitchen so Simon can eat his lunch (green beans)
1:45PM – Addie gets to watch a show for 15 minutes, while I breastfeed Simon. Addie goes down for her nap at 2:15PM (this is usually anytime between 2-3)
MOMMY TIME (with Simon) calls for a Gray’s Anatomy episode. Simon seems to be enjoying himself..
3:00PM – Start working on some sewing projects – 3:30PM half way done, but Simon’s biting at my ankles, like literally biting my ankles. Decide to breastfeed him a bit earlier than normal, cause I thought he would take a nap. Yeah, that didn't happen (Simon's nap) Both kids are up and we are back in the tent.
4:40PM – I finished my little sewing project
Time for afternoon snack upstairs. Addie’s enjoying some popcorn and Simon's helping me really getting in the way as I unload the dishwasher.
4:50PM  - Daniel is home from work and we get the kids ready and head to Aunt Kenzie and Uncle Adam’s house. They invited us for dinner, SCORE!!
We enjoyed some delicious sloppy joe’s and potato salad while the kid’s played. Addie ate very little, Simon was loving it though. Decided I would breastfeed him after dinner. This was a mistake. He still thought he was eating dinner and repeatedly bit me. OUCH! That feeding session went out the window, along with my nerve endings. Daniel tried to feed him some formula in a bottle, to no avail. So I tried breastfeeding again, and he ate.
We got back home about 8:30PM and Daniel put Addie to bed. Which consists of reading a few books and prayers (this is their nightly routine)
9:00PM I breastfeed Simon and put him to bed.
I finished picking up around the house and then Daniel humors me and we sit down to watch some TV (another gray’s anatomy episode, HAH!)
10:00PM – Head to bed!
Oh my word, you’re still reading? I applaud you! Hah. Thanks for taking the time to check out our day. Each day is different and some busier than others. This was a pretty relaxed day. We may not lead the most exciting life, but we are blessed and I am so thankful.

What We Did: Monday Jan 26th (Kenzie)

At the end of the day, I find myself wondering what exactly we did all day. Time seems to get away from me these days, so I thought I would try to write down everything we did. I took some pictures, too!

6:28am- Baby wakes up to eat. Notice baby's pajamas are soaked in pee. Change diaper and feed baby. Lay baby in bed with me.
6:55- Baby is not sleeping, instead he is grabbing my face.
9:43- We both wake up. Did I really just sleep until 9:43? That never happens. Remember husband coming to say goodbye when leaving for work. Cuddle with baby.
10:00- Text Kayla to see what she's doing today. We do this every morning. We decide to go to Walmart- exciting times.
10:10- Get up and let the dogs outside. Set baby up with toys while I get ready.
10:40- I'm ready. Go get baby ready.
10:50- Bribe dogs with stale crackers to go back into their room. Eat a few myself since I haven't eaten breakfast.
11:00- Load up the car and head out. It's foggy and depressing.
12:00- Get to Kayla's and realize I forgot to put on an undershirt. Hang out at Kayla's while we wait for baby's feeding time.
12:30- Leave for Walmart. Eat lunch. Won't tell you what we ate since that would be admitting that I've broken a New Year's resolution. Notice Walmart is empty, contemplate doing all of my shopping on Mondays. Here's what I got. I went for the laundry detergent.
2:00- Hang out at Kayla's for a little bit so the kids can play.
2:40- Head home. Get stuck behind a school bus. Still foggy.
3:10- Get home. Baby is still sleeping so I wait in the car going through mail and spacing out while looking at the house.
3:20- Go inside. Baby wakes up and I feed him. Let dogs outside. Try to give Lucy her new stuffed panda. She hates it and Bella tries to steal it. Gave baby a small piece of a yogurt bite. Got this reaction.
4:00- Try to do some work on the computer. Smell poop as soon as I start going through emails. Change diaper.
4:10- Try again on the computer.
4:15- Dogs are driving me crazy. Go feed dogs. Lock Bella in the bathroom to eat since Lucy tries to steal her food.
4:20- Back at the computer. Watch this video. Remember laundry in the dryer. Turn it on for the 3rd time to unwrinkle it.
4:30- Try to put Ben down for his afternoon nap. He fights it until 5:20pm.
5:40- Baby is awake. Watch an episode of Grey's Anatomy while rocking baby. Waiting for daddy to get home so I can make dinner. See Bella. She somehow let herself out of the bathroom. I forgot she was in there.
6:30- Feed baby. Start making dinner.
7:20- Eat dinner. Chicken Ranch Tacos with a Quinoa/Corn/Spinach salad.
7:30- Feed baby his baby food (spinach, zucchini, peas) while daddy cleans up the dishes. I let baby hold the spoon.
8:00- Work on my binding for a quilt.
8:20- Baby bath time.
8:45- Back to my binding while daddy plays xbox and baby plays with toys.
9:15- Feed baby and put him to bed. He goes down with little fight since he didn't have much of an afternoon nap.
9:40- Work on my binding while Adam reads our daily Bible reading out loud.
10:10- I would like to keep working but am too tired. Head to bed. Lay in bed on my phone for another hour or more. Remember the laundry in the dryer. It can wait until tomorrow.

And that's it! I can't believe how fast days fly by. No day is the same, I started writing this post at 7:30am today and hopefully the baby will take his 2 hour nap this afternoon as usual! Can any of you relate to this post?

Have a great day,
