I found these tank tops at Ross for $6.00. They're my absolute favorite. They are maternity tank tops so they work great for pregnancy, as well as afterwards. They have thicker straps, which I love. You can wear them by themselves or under shirts, as well. They are nice and stretchy and very comfortable. Then I needed to purchase the nursing strap clasps. I found these on ebay for $3.00/pack (which included two sets of clasps - enough for one tank top) Here is a link to the clasps on Ebay.So far, my DIY nursing tank top has cost me a massive $9.00! The only other thing I needed was black thread.
First thing you'll need to do is cut the straps on your tank top. These straps are stretchy, which is nice. I cut the strap attached to the tank top an inch or two off (enough to wrap through the bottom clasp and sew).
Next feed the strap through the clasp and fold over. Sew two straight stitch lines on the back side (inside) of the tank top (so you don't see it, when the tank top is on) Do this for both clasps on both sides.
In the end this is how it should look while it is attached. And there you have it, a DIY Nursing Tank Top for under $10.00!! Hopefully this gives you some ideas of how to save some money and still have a great working nursing tank top. Let me know what you think, and if you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them.
