It's Thrifty Thursday, and I'm so excited to share this project with you. Something I have a problem with is buying dishware at the thrift store. Seriously, how many little bowls does one girl need? I also tend to buy pie dishes. Who knows why on that one besides... maybe I love pie a little too much. :) Nah, you can't love pie too much.
Anyway, onto the project! I used a thrift store pie plate and wrote a recipe I found in my grandmother's recipe box. Last year, I received one of the best birthday presents ever. My aunt sent me 2 recipe boxes that belonged to my grandmother. How do I know that my grandma and I are alike? One of the 2 recipe boxes was solely dedicated to COOKIE recipes.
All I used was the pie plate, a DecoColor pen, and the recipe. Honestly, I just eyeballed it. It didn't turn out perfect, but that's okay. I kind of like it better that way.
I decided to keep it in my hutch, which just so happens to also be from my grandma.
If you have any dishes laying around that could use a little "something special," I totally suggest giving this a try. I'm not sure how the pen will hold up, but I don't really intend on baking in it... just to be on the safe side.
I hope you all have an awesome weekend! Thanks for stopping by and for showing us so much love :)

I love this! I used the same technique for my daughters bridal shower. I had all her friends write their wishes on dollar store plates. I love the idea of writing my grandmother's recipe! Pinning! I simply love this! I wonder if there would be a way to transfer the original for a template....hmmmm wheels turning. :) Great blog! New follower!
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you so much! I contemplated transferring the original recipe, too. The best way I could think of was making a reversed copy, and doing the whole a transfer with a gel medium and water. I'm not sure if it would work on glass, but its worth a shot. Here's a link to a tutorial where they transfer to fabric http://www.abeautifulmess.com/2011/10/how-to-transfer-a-photo-to-fabric.html
DeleteGood luck!
